On Friday, I finally managed to meet a friend of mine, who is also passionate about photography, for a walk and chat. Now when we are both fully vaccinated, we could finally get in the car together to go to some nice place, what joy! The little lane down the road from my house is nice, but a bit… same old, same old, after a few times.

We went to Galley Head and then to Long Strand. I’ve been to Galley Head many times (although I still haven’t taken the long walk along the cliffs) but not much to Long strand, other than a short walk, because of bad weather or that we’ve always been there while on the way somewhere else.

This time the weather was sunny, mild, and windy. There were some lovely waves, and other than a nice walk, I had some good moments with the camera.

After the last shot, the rain came – and it soon went from a silent shower to bucketfuls! So the photo shoot was over for this time, but it was an absolutely fantastic afternoon and the best photography session I’ve had in a long time. Long strand on windy days will definitely be on my regular to-do list!

Oh this is fabulous! I love watching roaring waves, they’re amazing to photograph. The beach close to my home is more of a bay than a surf beach but it’s good for swimming

There is something very special about crashing waves, isn’t there?! I can’t get enough of it! Absolutely fantastic to photograph, and depending on equipment, you can create so many different styles of photos too.

I think I left a comment on your IG account when you posted at least some of these pics, but oh, the colors, and the waves, and the contrasts that you found to highlight. I love the parasailer, too. (I don’t think I’ve ever written about my experience parasailing off the side of a mountain in Wyoming on a family trip, but… maybe I should do that. Ha!)

You do such a lovely job finding all of the beauty around you. With all of the uncertainty and heaviness, I find that just a bit of nature (even a walk on the paved trail near me, with all its bunnies and birds) helps ground me and remind me that that is not all there is. Take care – I hope that more photography sessions are in the offing.

I thought you also commented on this post while it was on the other simpler platform a while ago when I was miserable and didn’t know how I wanted to blog, but wanted to keep a space for my photos that was not Instagram. I won’t try to import comments from that commenting service again! Too much trouble!
Anyway, it’s always a pleasure having you visit, and I’m glad you like my photos! This photoshoot was absolutely fantastic. Now autumn is coming on very quickly, which is both good and bad. Good – for nice colours if I go to the right places, and bad – I won’t be out as much. But I’ll have to force myself to go out more, and to capture more of nature is a good excuse. But I’m also going to buy a light tent that comes with some lights and backdrops, and I might do some macro photography experiments when the outdoors gets too bad.
